Having worked in the healing profession as both a physiotherapist and osteopath for over 30 years, I have always had a special interest in helping women for the many physical ailments which they may have with childbirth.
Women experience enormous changes during and after pregnancy. Back and pelvic issues are quite common during pregnancy. As all your body joints loosen with the pregnancy hormones, it can affect your posture and lead to further problems.
I successfully address specific issues such as Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction (SPD), which is indicated by pain your pubic area and Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP), which leads to pains in your bottom. Both of these are a result of the joints in your pelvis being softened as a natural part of your pregnancy and slight internal imbalances occurring. Both can be very uncomfortable but treatment is generally effective in easing these problems.
It can also be embarrassing to talk about some issues even with your partner. Problems that are personal e.g. bladder control or pelvic floor issues happen to many women during pregnancy but it doesn't have to be that way.
While complications are common both during and after pregnancy it isn’t normal. If you haven’t recovered your body then it is sensible to ask for help.
I have been actively developing the womens health aspect of practice for a number of years now and would be pleased to help you if I can. And if I can't help you then I am sure to know someone else who can.
